Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine Oil Landscape by Patty Ann Sykes

Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine ©Patty Sykes 12x12 Oil on Raymar Panel

While on a recent trip to the Southwest, we
visited this lovely shrine.  It looks so majestic hidden
behind the stone wall and the greenery.  The church is
full of history and a quiet place for reflection. It was built
in 1795 and is the oldest shrine to the Virgin Mary in
the United States.

I hope you enjoy!

Yellow Wildflowers Daily Floral by Patty Ann Sykes

I planted these wildflowers in my garden,
when it was very new.  I did not know how
tall they would grow.  It turns out they are
about 5 feet tall.  Too tall for my garden.
I transplanted them on the north side of
the house and they are really liking the sun.

I hope you enjoy!

Giant Hibiscus Daily Floral Oils by Patty Ann Sykes

Patty Ann Sykes
Giant Hibiscus ©Patty Sykes 10x10 Oil on Raymar Panel

The hibiscus flower is the national flower
of South Korea, Malaysia and Haiti.  In the
Philippines the hibiscus is used by children
as part of a bubble making pastime.  The hibiscus
is traditionally worn by Tahitian and Hawaiian girls.
If the flower is worn behind the left ear, the woman
is marred or in a relationship.  If the flower is worn
on the right, she is single or openly available.  It is
also the state flower of Hawaii.  The first time I saw
a hibiscus, it was growing on tree in Hawaii and they
were so beautiful.  Now, I have the same flower
growing in my backyard.   I hope you enjoy!
