Yellow Wildflowers Daily Floral by Patty Ann Sykes

I planted these wildflowers in my garden,
when it was very new.  I did not know how
tall they would grow.  It turns out they are
about 5 feet tall.  Too tall for my garden.
I transplanted them on the north side of
the house and they are really liking the sun.

I hope you enjoy!

Giant Hibiscus Daily Floral Oils by Patty Ann Sykes

The hibiscus flower is the national flower
of South Korea, Malaysia and Haiti.  In the
Philippines the hibiscus is used by children
as part of a bubble making pastime.  The hibiscus
is traditionally worn by Tahitian and Hawaiian girls.
If the flower is worn behind the left ear, the woman
is marred or in a relationship.  If the flower is worn
on the right, she is single or openly available.  It is
also the state flower of Hawaii.  The first time I saw
a hibiscus, it was growing on tree in Hawaii and they
were so beautiful.  Now, I have the same flower
growing in my backyard.   I hope you enjoy!

Lorain Lighthouse Daily Seascape by Patty Ann Sykes

Lorain Lighthouse ©Patty Sykes 6x6 Oil on Raymar Panel

The Lorain Lighthouse is often called the “Jewel
of the Port”.  It was built in 1837 at he north end of the
West Harbor Breakwater in Lorain Harbor, its light is
no longer lit, its fog horn no longer sounds, but it
remains a silent reminder of Lorain’s relationship with
Lake Erie shipping.

Marblehead Daily Seascape by Patty Ann Sykes

We have visited many lighthouses, but
one of the best looking lighthouses is located
in my home state of Ohio.  Marblehead was
constructed in 1822 and is the oldest lighthouse
in continuous operation on the United States
side of the Great Lakes.  It is now a part of a
9 acre park, Marblehead Lighthouse State Park.
The US Coast Guard continues to operate and
maintain the lighthouse beacon.
